Reunification Home for Indigenous Families in Canada
Our Mission
To successfully reunify children in the care of Children’s Services, Delegated First Nations Authorities, or Indigenous Governing Body with their family or kin through connection to their cultural and the use of western therapeutic approaches.

The Cree word Sohkastwâw translates to he/she is resilient. Resilience is an important component of healing as it ensures we develop compassion for ourselves. When we have compassion for ourselves, we begin to see our own value and how we belong in the world.
Practices.
-
Sohkastwâw Lodge is a 24-hour professionally staffed reunification home. The program provides families with connection to their Indigenous culture through engagement with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, cultural teachings, attendance at ceremony, and land-based activities.
-
Families will have the opportunity to engage with therapists and work on addressing their trauma and the trauma they carry from generations past. Therapy with families will be paced and focus on addressing each family member’s individual needs and the needs of their family as a whole.
We acknowledge that Sohkastwâw Lodge is on Treaty 6 territory, traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route to the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene and Nakota Sioux. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.
